The Partnership for 21st Century Skills has emerged as the leading advocacy organization focused on infusing 21st century skills into education. The organization brings together the business community, education leaders, and policymakers to define a powerful vision for 21st century education to ensure every child's success as citizens and workers in the 21st century. The Partnership encourages schools, districts and states to advocate for the infusion of 21st century skills into education and provides tools and resources to help facilitate and drive change. Since 2002, the Partnership for 21st Century Skills has been working with states and communities to reinvigorate learning to meet the demands of the 21st century. Based on this work, the Partnership believes there are seven strategies for a successful statewide 21st Century Skills Initiative:
- High-profile leadership
- Broad consensus and a shared vision
- Ongoing professional development in 21st century skills
- Standards and curriculum aligned with 21st century skills
- 21st century assessments
- An effective communications strategy
- An aggressive implementation strategy

NETS
The primary goal of the ISTE NETS Project is to enable stakeholders in PreK-12 education to develop national standards for educational uses of technology that facilitate school improvement in the United States. The NETS Project will work to define standards for students, integrating curriculum technology, technology support, and standards for student assessment and evaluation of technology use.

ISTE released new student standards in June 2007 at NECC in Atlanta, Georgia. The next generation of National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS•S) were the result of input and feedback from educators across the U.S. and 22 other countries.

Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 6,240,591 people from around the globe. There is an Educator's Island in Second Life where you can meet and interact with educators from all over the world.
